It terrorized the land of Lycia until it was finally slain by the hero Bellerophon, who rode the winged horse Pegasus and used a lead-tipped spear to suffocate the beast.

The Chimera has become a symbol of the impossible and the unreal, a creature of nightmares that exists only in our imaginations. But in a way, we have overcome the Chimera by understanding it, by recognizing it as a metaphor for the dark and chaotic forces that can threaten our lives.
